Remember when… A common phrase used around the dinner table of millions of households worldwide. Remember When …. Sometimes, this phrase is even used as a way of brining up past pain and hurts, not allowing time to heal or even ripping the scab off of an unhealed wound. Naturally as humans we tend to remember these past events that have hurt us, and then there are the ones we look back on and remember the good things of our past. Bringing to memory, “the older I get the better I was” saying, and so goes the never ending challenge of trying to “one-up” the next person.
This is so contrary to what God wants us to remember and what God wants us to forget. It is so easy to remember what He wants us to forget and forget what He wants us to remember.
New King James Version (NKJV)
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
The Holy Spirit is to bring to our remembrance the things that Jesus has said in His Word, giving us a far better way to live. He is our comforter, guidance, helper.
Have you ever seen the movie, “The Lion King”? Rafiki takes Simba to the Lake and shows him the reflection of his father in the water. At first Simba doesn’t see the reflection of his father, but after a littler closer look he does and also experiences his father speaking to him, telling him to remember who he is… He is the son of a King. This is the same for you and I. We need to remember who we are. Once we remember who we are, we will know what to do… (Craig Groeschell)
You and I are son’s and daughters of the King of Kings, we have such an amazing message to share.
As an Ambassador for Christ (2Cor 5:20), our job is so easy… Love God, Love people (Mark 12:30-31)
